I am talking about Cannabis and how it helped me. It might not work for everyone, but I am on a cannabis journey and I hope you will join me.

who am I?

Hi. I am Carey and I am the woman behind SisterShine.
I never thought I would be here but life sometimes takes you on its own journey and well-here I am. Welcome.

Here is the short story about how my cannabis journey began.

My road to cannabis is unique but I hope with ongoing education and research its uniqueness fades. It is a story of stigma, layered by stigma layered with more stigma. Those layers are built around the stigma over mental health, medication and the choice to consume cannabis.

After suffering severe postpartum anxiety with my first sweet baby boy I was determined to not suffer with baby number two. I did everything in my power but after that beautiful second baby was born that same awful anxiety reappeared. I did a lot things to alleviate it, but its presence was persistent. After the 10 month mark I started researching cannabis as an aid for anxiety. One night after much research I stumbled upon Dr. Junella Chin. This amazing doctor gave me the final push to try cannabis for my PPA.

I received a prescription shortly after stumbling upon Dr. Chin and to this day I thank her for her work. I also thank all the other brave mothers who I read about and reached out to during that time. Cannabis helped me and cannabis continues to help me.

It is an exciting journey. The community of women I have met so far are amazing and I cannot wait to meet more. That truly is the beauty in all of this.
